Choosing the competency
In the E-training details window, section Competency to renew if passed and alert:
- Choose the Competency. Competencies are grouped by competency group.
- Choose the Automatic expiry date rule.
- Optionally set a Responsible and an Alert.
As written in the window: when a competency is selected, the e-training becomes accessible to all members holding the competency, in addition to the roles selected on the right side. This is the usual setup for recurrent trainings.
What happens when a member passes
| Situation | Result |
|---|---|
| The member doesn’t have the competency | The competency is added to the member’s profile. |
| The member has it and it can be held only once | The competency is renewed: new effective date (today) and new expiry date. |
| The member has it and it can be held several times | A new competency entry is added. |
| The score is below the score to pass | Nothing changes. The member can try again. |
The competency comment shows “After undergoing” and the e-training title, a reminder is planned before the new expiry date, and the member’s completed list shows Added or Renew until.
Where members see the link
- In their E-training tab, with a red ribbon and the competency name.
- In their Competency tab, with the presentation board icon next to the competency. Members click it to launch the e-training.
- On the phone, in Alerts, with the e-learning icon.
Where staff see the link
- In a member’s profile, in Manage Competencies, the tooltip of each competency lists “Modifiable by E-trainings” followed by the e-trainings that renew it.
- In the competency settings, the E-training tab lists the e-trainings that can validate the competency.
Good practices
- Use a score to pass for evaluations that validate a competency.
- Choose an expiry rule that matches the competency’s renewal period.
- Set a responsible with When exam failed to follow members who need help.
