6. Squawks main tab
6.1 List view
List view is the fleet-wide squawk register. It supports sorting, paging, search filters, and status review across resources. Visible information includes aircraft category/type/registration, status, creation information, event description, postponement limits, closing information, and tags where available.
Double-click or right-click a squawk/resource row to open the relevant Squawk Manager. Inline editing is available only to authorized members.

6.2 Selector view
Selector view is optimized for working aircraft by aircraft.
- Use the left panel to locate a category, type, and registration.
- Expand the group if necessary.
- Select the aircraft.
- Use the detailed Squawk Manager displayed on the right.
The aircraft count reflects the current selector filters. The … menu contains:
- Collapse all
- Expand all
- Only Grounded
- Grounded and NOT in maintenance
- In Maintenance
- Only Warning
- Only Grounded and Warning
- Only available
- Reset filters
- Refresh
Use Reset filters when the count or visible aircraft does not match expectations. Right-clicking an aircraft in the selector provides the same resource actions described in section 4.4, subject to access and state.

7.1 Read the Squawks grid
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| ID | Squawk/event record number. |
| S | Indicates a pilot snag/event source. |
| F | Attached files are available; select the icon to open them. |
| Stat | Grounded or Warning condition. |
| Created / Created by | When and by whom the item was recorded. |
| Event | Accurate description of the condition. |
| ATA | Applicable ATA chapter/subchapter, when ATA is enabled. |
| Post. Date | Inclusive postponed-until date. The item remains within the entered date and expires after it. |
| Days left | Calendar time remaining. |
| Post. TTSN | TTSN limit. When both date and TTSN are entered, the first reached limit controls. |
| Win. | Additional TTSN window. It must be explicitly justified and monitored. |
| Hours left | Remaining TTSN allowance. |
| Postponed by / text | Person and explanation associated with the postponement. |
| Close / Close by / Close text | Closure date, responsible member, and release/rectification explanation. |
| Tags | Automated classification used in dashboard and reliability views. Always read the original description. |
| Warning period | Lead time before expiry when the item changes to warning. |
Closed/inactive rows are dimmed and locked. By default, the grid emphasizes current items.

7.2 Squawks toolbar
Depending on access, the toolbar offers:
- Add a squawk
- Modify or view the selected squawk
- Clear all filters and refresh
- Show/Hide inactives (closed items)
- Toggle Search Toolbar
- Print the filtered squawk list
- Print a Pilot snag label for a selected pilot snag
- Print the ATA chapters list, when ATA is enabled
The Pilot snag label action works only when an eligible pilot snag is selected. Printed lists follow the current resource, inactive setting, and filters.

7.3 Add a squawk
- Confirm the registration in the Squawk Manager title.
- Select Add.
- Enter the event date.
- Write an accurate, observable description. State what was reported or found without guessing at a cause.
- Select the ATA chapter when required by the organization.
- If the item is approved for postponement, enter the approved date and/or TTSN limit, window, explanation, and warning lead time.
- Save.
- Verify the resulting status and the resource’s main-grid status.
A squawk without an approved future limit can ground the resource. Do not invent a limit merely to obtain an available status.

7.4 Use date and TTSN postponement controls
The date calculator offers common increments such as 30, 90, or 180 days; 1, 3, or 6 months; and 1, 2, or 5 years. The TTSN field also provides quick hour increments where available.
Key rules:
- Date only: the entered day is inclusive; the item becomes overdue after that day.
- TTSN only: the limit is reached when actual TTSN meets the entered value.
- Date and TTSN: the first condition reached controls.
- Window: extends the TTSN threshold by the entered amount and must be treated as controlled maintenance data.
- Warning period: changes the display to warning before expiry so work can be planned.
After entering a TTSN, compare the displayed hours from current TTSN. A negative or unexpectedly small result is a strong sign that the value needs correction.

7.5 Modify a squawk
Select the row and use Edit, or edit an authorized cell directly. Review the entire item, not only the changed value. Pilot snag descriptions can be locked to preserve the original report; record clarification in the appropriate follow-up or closing text instead of rewriting the pilot’s statement.
If the system rejects a change, read the message, allow the original value to be restored, and correct the cause before trying again.

7.6 Close and optionally renew a squawk
- Select the correct row.
- Enter the close date and a complete closing explanation.
- Save the close information.
- When Duplicate Squawk appears, choose:
- Duplicate when the same condition must immediately continue as a new controlled item; or
- No when no renewal is required.
- If duplicated, review the prefilled description and ATA, then enter fresh limits and justification before saving the new item.
- Verify that the original is closed and the renewed item, if any, is open.
The duplicate workflow preserves the original closure while creating a distinct follow-on item. It is not a shortcut for leaving an unresolved item falsely closed.

[SCREENSHOT: maintenance-squawk-renewed | Capture: Closed original row and newly created renewed row together.]
7.7 Open attached snag files
Select the file icon in the F column. The Snag uploaded files dialog shows files linked to that event. Review the correct item ID and registration before relying on an attachment.
