OpenAviation synchronization

Published 7 October 2026, Updated 7 October 2026

OpenAviation has a dedicated manual synchronization interface available only when the integration and the member’s maintenance access permit it. Select Sync with Open Aviation below the main tabs.

The dialog states that completed Flight Record information is transferred after sensitive information is filtered, that OpenAviation refreshes transferred information on its own cycle, and that scheduled synchronization also runs. Use the manual workflow below when the selected period or a specific aircraft needs review or retransmission.

20.1 Choose the inclusive date range

The default range is yesterday through today. Both dates are inclusive and cannot be later than today. Presets include:

  • Today
  • Yesterday
  • Since yesterday
  • Since last week

Choose a narrow range when investigating one discrepancy. A wider range can include more eligible completed flights and can resend records already transferred.

20.2 Understand synchronization statuses

Filter/statusMeaning
All resourcesShows every active eligible flight resource in the current result. Flight training devices are excluded.
Needs syncAt least one eligible completed flight in the selected range has not been successfully transferred, and the aircraft has previous successful transfer history.
Up to dateNo eligible completed flight is waiting in the selected range. This includes days with no eligible flights.
Never syncedEligible completed flights are waiting and no successful transfer history exists for the aircraft.

Cancelled or incomplete activities and records without positive air time are not eligible for transfer.

20.3 Read and filter the aircraft grid

The grid shows:

  • Resource and type
  • Period Status for the selected inclusive range
  • Last synchronization information
  • Last completed flight information
  • Actual TTSN
  • Last synchronized TTSN

Use the search row to find a registration or type. Changing the date range or status filter refreshes the eligible aircraft list.

20.4 Review flights awaiting synchronization

Double-click a Needs sync aircraft to open the list of completed flights awaiting synchronization for the chosen range. Review the dates, flight references, and durations shown in the dialog before selecting the aircraft for transfer.

If the details do not match expectations, close the dialog and first verify the underlying Daily records and selected date range.

20.5 Select aircraft

  • Select individual row checkboxes for a controlled export.
  • Select all visible selects only rows currently displayed by the date, status, and search filters.
  • Clear selection removes every current selection.
  • Check the selected count before proceeding.

Filtering after selecting can change what is visible. Recheck the count and selected registrations immediately before synchronization.

20.6 Synchronize selected aircraft

  1. Confirm the inclusive range.
  2. Confirm every selected registration.
  3. Select Sync selected.
  4. Wait for completion; do not submit the same selection repeatedly while the request is pending.
  5. Read the result message.
  6. Refresh the grid and confirm the new Period Status and synchronization information.
  7. Verify the transferred information in OpenAviation as instructed by the success message.

The manual action sends eligible completed flights for the selected aircraft and period. It can resend records that were already transferred, so choose the range deliberately.

No records are eligibleVerify the range, completion state, cancellation state, and positive air time in Daily records.

20.7 Transfer History

Open Transfer History from the synchronization grid toolbar. The history list includes:

  • Transfer date/time
  • Flight Record range From/To
  • Transferred by
  • Success or failed status
  • Transfer filename/reference
  • Message
  • Count

Use the search toolbar to filter by registration or other visible history information. Double-click a row to open Transfer Details and review what the transfer reported.

20.8 Reconcile OpenAviation with Daily records and History

For a discrepancy:

  1. Record the aircraft and exact inclusive date range.
  2. Review Daily records for completed, non-cancelled activity and positive air time.
  3. Check the OA indicator on the relevant activity rows.
  4. Review Transfer History and open the matching details.
  5. Compare actual TTSN with last synchronized TTSN in the synchronization grid.
  6. If appropriate, select only that aircraft and the narrowest necessary range, then synchronize.
  7. Verify the receiving OpenAviation display.
  8. Add a maintenance task or History note when follow-up remains.
