At different places of the portal, for all references to any logbook type data, the system use the following items for flight or ground activities.
Flight activities
The general logbook items are grouped in 3 main sections.
The flight time section only represents flight duration while the activity type section represents the flight experience.
Hours of flight training activity are detailed as follow:
Title | Who shall log per type of activity or description |
---|---|
Activity details | |
y-m-d | The date of the activity |
Type/Regist. | The type and the registration of the resource |
Pic/Captain | The name and licence number of the pilot in command or the captain |
Stud/co-pic | The name and licence number of the student or co-pilot or second officer |
Lesson/Course | Lesson title or exercices. Course title |

IMC | Instrument meteorological conditions. Shall be in an aircraft |
Hood | Instrument Hoods or View Limiting Devices are used by pilots during flight training to simulate flying in the clouds or in poor visibility. Shall be in an aircraft |
FTD | Flight training device. These devices are designed to represent a specific aircraft configuration and, depending upon the FTD’s qualification level, may include an enclosed cockpit and realistic visual references. They are not always motion capable but are sophisticated enough to provide training in preparation for commercial and airline transport pilot certificates |
Ifr.apr | Number of Instrument Flight Rules approaches |
Cross-Country Demonstration of navigational ability during the logged period of time. |
|
Day Dual | Training: Student Internal: Trainee |

Miscellaneous | |
VFR FTD | Visual Flight Rules exercices training in a Flight Training Device. |
Among all above definitions, the total period of Instrument time + total period of cross-country time shall not exceed the total flight time.
Ground activities
Hours of ground sessions are detailed as follow:
Title | Description |
---|---|
Theory | Theory sessions are all course’s lessons concerning theory. Usually used for ground classes. |
Preparatory | Usually it is a classroom type instruction, normally on a one-to-one basis, but not excluding group instruction, covering the steps necessary to fly an air exercise. While basic theory of flight, where applicable, would previously have been covered in ground school, some theory may be necessary to explain a point related to the conduct of the air exercise. Essentially Preparatory Ground Instruction should cover the “how to do an air exercise”. This is a presentation given by the instructor when introducing a new exercise. |
Study | These lessons should represent student’s personal studies. It could be in a classroom type session or at home. |
Exams | Any ground assessment duration shall be added here. These sessions shall not be counted as ground training. |
