Create a one-time task

Before creating the task, select the correct work area in Task center or open the correct operational Task tab. A task cannot be moved to another work area from its edit window.

To create a task:

  1. Click the plus sign below the task list.
  2. Enter a clear Subject.
  3. Choose a Start date if the work begins on a known date.
  4. Choose the initial Status. For future work, keep Not Started.
  5. Enter a Due date if there is a deadline.
  6. Choose Low, Normal, or High priority.
  7. Enter the instructions or background in the large description area.
  8. Click Add.
  9. After the row appears, assign the person or people responsible as explained in the next section.

Writing a useful task

The Subject should identify the action, not only the topic.

Clear subject:

Confirm the missing medical certificate with the member

Unclear subject:

Certificate

In the description, explain the expected result, useful context, and who should be contacted. Avoid putting the only important instruction in the Subject.

Date rules

  • The Start and Due fields use the year-month-day format shown by the date picker.
  • When both dates are used, the Due date cannot be earlier than the Start date.
  • A task can be created without dates when it is a general follow-up.
  • A Start date is mandatory when recurrence is used.
