Step 1 \u2014 Write your answer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

  1. Open the report.<\/li>\n\n\n
  2. Click the edit icon<\/strong> at the right of the Answer<\/strong> line. The Compose text<\/strong> window opens with a text editor.<\/li>\n\n\n
  3. Replace the grey suggested text (“Storyline has to be related to the event\u2026”) with your answer.<\/li>\n\n\n
  4. Click Close<\/strong> to copy your text into the answer area. Cancel<\/strong> closes the window without keeping your changes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    What to write<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    A good answer is factual, complete and honest. Use this outline:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What you did<\/strong> after the event<\/td>“I stopped and contacted ground.”<\/td><\/tr>
    What you will do, or suggest<\/strong>, to avoid it in the future<\/td>“Always read back hold-short instructions; review the airport diagram before taxi.”<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

    Avoid one-line answers such as “Sorry, it won’t happen again”. They do not help to find the causes and the report may be sent back to you for more details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Step 2 \u2014 Save or send the answer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Click Answer<\/strong> at the bottom of the report. A Confirmation<\/strong> window opens:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Save draft<\/strong><\/td>Your text is saved but the report is still considered unanswered<\/strong>. Nobody is notified. The answer delay keeps running.<\/td>You need more time, or want to finish your answer later.<\/td><\/tr>
    Save and Request evaluation<\/strong><\/td>Your answer is recorded as the official answer<\/strong>, with today’s date. The sender receives a message (and an e-mail when available) asking to evaluate it. Restrictions linked to the unanswered report are removed.<\/strong><\/td>Your answer is complete.<\/td><\/tr>
    Cancel<\/strong><\/td>Closes the window without saving.<\/td>You clicked by mistake.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

    If your text did not change since your last request, the page shows “Your answer is the same or you have already request an evaluation. No request has been sent!”<\/strong>. If the answer area is empty, the page asks you to check your data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Important:<\/strong> only Save and Request evaluation<\/strong> counts as an answer. A draft does not stop the answer delay and does not remove restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Step 3 \u2014 Waiting for evaluation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    After you request the evaluation, the report shows Answered<\/strong> with the date, and Waiting for evaluation<\/strong>. The Answer<\/strong> button is no longer displayed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    If you need to change your answer after requesting the evaluation, contact the person who sent the report. They can reopen your answer<\/strong> so you can modify it and request a new evaluation. They can also reopen it themselves if they need more information from you; in that case you receive a message and the Answer<\/strong> button comes back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Step 4 \u2014 Evaluation and closing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The sender reads your answer, analyzes the event and writes a correction<\/strong> (the evaluation): the analysis, the causes found and the actions decided. When the report is evaluated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • the report moves to Events corrected<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n
    • it shows Answered<\/strong> with your answer and Corrected<\/strong> with the date, the name of the evaluator and the evaluation text,<\/li>\n\n\n
    • no further action is required from you, unless an action was assigned to you (see below).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Actions assigned to you<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      For flight safety (SMS) events, the safety team can assign you a follow-up action<\/strong> with a projected date<\/strong>, for example “Review the taxi clearance procedure with your instructor”. The action appears in the Security SMS<\/strong> part of the report and in the Important reminders<\/strong> pop-up. Do it before the projected date and tell the person in charge so they can close it.
