{"id":4158,"date":"2026-10-04T11:17:03","date_gmt":"2026-10-04T15:17:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.airsupervision.com\/wp-r\/?post_type=docs&#038;p=4158"},"modified":"2026-10-04T11:17:03","modified_gmt":"2026-10-04T15:17:03","slug":"create-a-recurring-task","status":"publish","type":"docs","link":"https:\/\/www.airsupervision.com\/wp-r\/docs\/organization-staff\/tasks-and-task-center\/recurring-tasks\/create-a-recurring-task\/","title":{"rendered":"Create a recurring task"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Recurrence is useful for work that repeats on a predictable schedule, such as weekly file reviews, monthly checks, or annual renewals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"open-the-recurrence-settings\">Open the recurrence settings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Open a new or existing task.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter a <strong>Start date<\/strong> first.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the calendar icon beside <strong>Recurrence<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select a recurrence pattern and its range.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review the plain-language recurrence shown beside the calendar icon.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Add<\/strong> or <strong>Modify<\/strong> in the task window to save the task itself.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The recurrence calendar is dimmed until a Start date is entered. If you remove the Start date, the recurrence is also removed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"recurrence-pattern-reference\">Recurrence pattern reference<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><thead><tr><th>Pattern<\/th><th>Available choices<\/th><th>Example use<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>Daily<\/td><td>Every chosen number of days, or every weekday from Monday to Friday<\/td><td>Daily operational review or weekday opening check<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Weekly<\/td><td>Every chosen number of weeks on one or more selected weekdays<\/td><td>Every two weeks on Monday and Wednesday<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Monthly<\/td><td>A numbered day, or the first, second, third, fourth, or last selected day type<\/td><td>The 15th of each month or the last weekday of each month<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Yearly<\/td><td>A month and day, or an ordered day type in a selected month<\/td><td>Every March 31 or the first Monday of September<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For monthly and yearly ordered patterns, the selected day type can be a specific weekday, any day, a weekday, or a weekend day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"range-of-recurrence\">Range of recurrence<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Every recurring task has a Start and one of these endings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>End by<\/strong>: stop on a selected date.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>End after<\/strong>: stop after a selected number of occurrences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>No end date<\/strong>: continue until a user removes the recurrence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"validation-rules\">Validation rules<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The recurrence window blocks invalid settings. Check the following if an error appears:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>interval numbers must be whole numbers from 1 to 99<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a weekly pattern needs at least one selected weekday<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a numbered day of the month must be from 1 to 31<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>End after must contain from 1 to 999 occurrences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Start must be a valid date<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>End by cannot be earlier than Start<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the chosen range must contain at least one occurrence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>After you click OK, the Start date can move forward to the first date that matches the pattern. For example, a weekly Wednesday task starting on a Friday moves to the following Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If a Due date is present, the system keeps the same amount of time between Start and Due for each occurrence.
